Wharton Net Impact facilitates MBA students' contribution to innovation
at the cusp of business and society. We promote social impact careers
and raise awareness of critical issues among the MBA community. Our

skills to achieve social impact in a variety of ways. Key areas of interest
include social enterprise, nonprofit management, international and economic
development, socially responsible investing (SRI), government, and corporate
social responsibility (CSR).
2004 Placement Stats: 34 summer internships,

Wharton Net Impact had the following initiatives
in 2004-2005:
Career Resources. The Net Impact
Career Handbook and database provide information on specific opportunities
for MBA candidates interested in social impact careers. Our annual Resume
Book assists students in reaching employers. We also work with the Wharton
Career Management Office to help public interest employers to recruit
at Wharton.
Social Impact Management (SIM) Conference.
The SIM Conference brings
together leaders to discuss the most important issues at the intersection
of business and society. Panel and keynote discussion topics include
international development, public leadership and social enterprise.
The 3rd Annual SIM Conference will be 1/14/05.
Net Impact Speaker Series. The Wharton
Net Impact Speaker Series hosts pioneers in social responsibility to
discuss their experience and vision for the future of business-educating
students about critical decisions facing leaders and providing insight
into career possibilities. Past speakers have included David Bornstein,
author of "How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the
Power of New Ideas," and Jeffrey
Hollender, CEO of Seventh Generation.
Curriculum Evaluation and Development.
Net Impact collaborates with faculty and administrators to promote new
Wharton courses and materials that address socially responsible business
and public interest issues-including Wharton's first Social Entrepreneurship
Course to be launched Spring 2005.
Social Impact Management Global Consulting
Practicum (SIMGCP). In its second year, the SIM-GCP program
involves a team of students in executing a consulting project for a
nonprofit organization abroad for academic credit, in collaboration
with local MBA students. Last year's group made recommendations for
Mercomujer, the Artisans Cooperative division of a Peruvian nonprofit
organization.
Professional Networking Events.
In collaboration with various clubs and offices, we expand the reach
of the social impact network through topical roundtable lunches, alumni
forums, and admissions events.
